AUR Resources publishes training and assessment material for the AUR Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package. Written by people who have turned spanners and marked competency.

Each unit product is a complete kit. You get a learner guide that works through the underpinning knowledge, a set of learner activities, a written knowledge assessment with a model answer set, a practical observation task with a checklist the assessor fills in on the workshop floor, a third party report for workplace supervisors, and an assessor guide that explains what a satisfactory performance looks like for that unit. Files come as editable Word documents so your trainers can change what needs changing.

The practical instruments are written around real jobs rather than invented scenarios. A brake system unit asks the learner to inspect and service a disc and drum arrangement on a vehicle that is actually on a hoist, measure rotor thickness and runout against manufacturer specification, and record the readings. An engine management unit asks them to interrogate the vehicle with a scan tool, read live data, and reason from a freeze frame to a probable fault. The paperwork follows the job. The job does not follow the paperwork.

Coverage runs across the light vehicle mechanical stream, heavy commercial, automotive electrical, body repair and refinishing, and the sales and servicing stream. Where a unit sits in more than one qualification, the same product carries the mapping for each.

Every product ships with a mapping document that traces each assessment item back to the unit of competency it is evidencing. Elements and performance criteria are addressed item by item. Performance evidence, knowledge evidence and the assessment conditions each get their own table, so an auditor or a validator can pick up the map and follow it without asking you to explain your own resource to them.

Foundation skills are shown against the tasks that require them rather than listed in a block at the end. If a unit needs the learner to read a wiring diagram or interpret a torque specification table, the map says which task carries that demand. Where a unit sits inside a licensing or regulated area, the map notes it plainly rather than glossing over it.
