Ledger and Lane Financial is a mid-sized financial services firm serving small and medium businesses, family groups and individuals. From offices in Parramatta, Geelong and Brisbane it provides bookkeeping and accounts administration, business activity statement and income tax preparation and lodgement, payroll services, management accounting and advisory, finance and mortgage broking, and general insurance broking with claims support. Clients range from a single-owner bakery to a freight company with sixty staff, and most use two or more of the firm's services so that their books, tax, lending and insurance are managed together.

The firm is organised into six departments: Bookkeeping and Accounts, Tax and Business Advisory, Payroll Services, Finance and Mortgage Broking, Insurance Broking and Claims, and Compliance, Risk and Client Services. Staff work standard office hours with extended hours in the weeks before quarterly lodgement deadlines and end of financial year. Every client has a lead relationship owner in the Client Register, every piece of work has a job in the Jobs and Lodgement Tracker, and every loan and insurance matter has a file in its own pipeline or register so that nothing depends on one person's memory.

Every figure is reconciled, every lodgement is reviewed and every error is corrected and disclosed.
